About Serpentine Music Productions
By Anne Hill, founder

Serpentine Music began as an outgrowth of my own interest and involvement in the Pagan music scene. Back in 1992, I was helping the Reclaiming Collective record their tape "Let It Begin Now: Music from the Spiral Dance." As singer, arranger, choral director, and co-producer, I was thrilled at the chance to put my lifelong music background to work with my Pagan spirituality. When the recording was done, I realized that Reclaiming now had two good chant tapes and no real way to market them to the Pagan community. I decided to take on the challenge, and began distributing Reclaiming's tapes. (For more information about Reclaiming, check out their website.)

Always a collector by nature, I soon realized that there was a lot of other Pagan music out there that I wanted to listen to. I started searching it, and as my shelves filled up I became just as excited about distributing other artists as I was about distributing for Reclaiming. At the same time, I was searching for a business I could start at home that would make use of my work background in mail-order and home-based businesses. The idea of producing and distributing Pagan music seemed a natural fit, and was all the more exciting to me because nobody else was doing it. I contacted all the great Pagan musicians I knew whose work I wanted to support, mailed out my first flyer, and Serpentine Music Productions was born.

Thirteen Years and Counting!

Serpentine Music has gone through a lot of changes since 1992, as have I. Other avenues of interest for me have appeared, and Serpentine Music is now more of an independent record label than a clearinghouse for all Pagan music. I have much more fun this way, and actually find the time occasionally to play music myself, which is what this dream is all about.

After putting out The Best of Pagan Song, two albums by Teresa Tudury, and the long-awaited Music of Gwydion CD re-release, I am going to devote some time this year to recording my own music and completing some long-standing writing projects of my own. I will continue to produce music as time permits, and you will always be able to purchase it here online, as well as at other outlets such as amazon.com.

Serpentine Music is a complimentary business to my other work of writing, teaching, and exploring dreams. If you are interested in my writing, I now have a lively blog where I weigh in on all sorts of topics. As always, I value your comments and encouragement. Here's to the next 13 years of Serpentine Music!

Blessed be,

Anne Hill
